She was there to encourage me, pray with me, and physically help me SO MUCH!! When I had an epidural, I was not progressing much at all and Marla repeatedly adjusted the positions I was in, even when I had no will power to keep going. Surely enough, after all the positions and some rest, I was able to vaginally deliver my baby! She was so helpful during the pushing process & even helped me adjust as my baby went to the NICU. Marla was able to be with me so my husband could take a little break and even help my husband know how to help me. I wouldn’t want to do another delivery without Marla!”

“After having a traumatic and unsupported delivery with my first son (full of all the unnecessary interventions), I knew I wanted the second time around for us to look completely different! Immediately after we found out we were pregnant again I started searching for the best possible team to stand beside us this time. I honestly wasn’t very knowledgeable about what a doula was or did during labor and delivery when we sat down with Marla for the first time, and we were hesitant to make a commitment to anything. Marla was so patient with us as we asked all the questions about what this process would look like with her! After leaving our first meeting, my husband and I were both confident that whatever the rest of our care looked like we wanted Marla with us.
Throughout my entire pregnancy she was there offering physical and emotional support. Looking back I think having her to lean on through all the challenges of pregnancy was one of the most influential factors in our experience! When I finally did go into labor (at 41 weeks), Marla was there for all of it. From texting updates in the middle of the night as my contractions became closer together, to being by our side the moment we called for her! I truly believe that we wouldn’t have had such a positive and redemptive second birth if it hadn’t been for her. Walking away from that experience, I feel like we gained not only an incredible doula, but also a sweet friend! Already looking forward to #3 with her one day!”

She met with me early on in my pregnancy and spent a ton of her own time helping me feel prepared and listening to all of my questions. She regularly checked in on me throughout pregnancy and even came over to my house and did stretching and exercises with me to get labor going! In the delivery room, she was so helpful in caring for my needs and helping me feel as comfortable as possible. She guided my husband on different ideas and tricks to comfort me and support me.
